Virtual reality glasses at the NRW police
Aachen police headquarters is pilot authority
Experiencing road traffic conflicts up close without putting yourself or others in danger - this is made possible by the use of virtual reality (VR) glasses. The "Virtual Reality in Traffic Accident Prevention" project was presented by NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul at the end of April and Aachen Police Headquarters is the pilot authority.
In developing the project, the police received active support from the employees of the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt).
At the end of June, our traffic accident prevention colleagues visited pupils from a 9th grade school in Alsdorf for the first time. In cooperation with teachers and a BASt employee, they introduced the young people to the topic of "Conflict situations when cycling" with the aid of VR glasses.
