The state press law obliges public authorities to set up a press office. Its resulting task is to facilitate the freedom of the press guaranteed in the Basic Law by providing press representatives with the information required to fulfill their public duties.

The Aachen Police Press Office guarantees a prompt and binding response to all police-specific media inquiries from the Aachen city region.

This information is provided in the form of interviews, emails or press reports. The press office sends its reports electronically to the news agency Newsaktuell. This ensures that the reports reach the media just a few minutes later. The press office maintains close contact with the local media and local radio stations.

In the case of events of particular importance, where experience has shown that a high volume of media coverage is to be expected, it sets up a mobile press office in order to be able to answer media inquiries promptly and appropriately directly from the scene of the event.
