Following the retirement of Hans-Werner Winkelmann, who held the post for a total of 13 years, Criminal Director Christian Kampa has now taken over as head of the Crime Directorate.

District Administrator Hans-Jürgen Petrauschke welcomed the new face of the criminal investigation department on Wednesday (04.05.): "As head of the district police authority, I am delighted to be able to appoint such an experienced detective to succeed Winkelmann."
The 55-year-old from Düsseldorf has been with the NRW police force since 1985. Christian Kampa can look back on a very eventful career. He has worked for the police for 37 years and has a wealth of experience in various areas - particularly in the Crime Directorate.
In addition to his initial experience in a regional police department in Düsseldorf, he headed up Criminal Investigation Department 1 in Hagen and then the Crime Directorate in Düsseldorf. His CV also includes three years as Head of State Security and work in the Islamist Terrorism Department at the State Criminal Police Office of North Rhine-Westphalia.
With the current change, Christian Kampa is responsible for more than 180 employees in the Crime Directorate, who use their specialist knowledge to promote security and the investigation and prevention of crime in the Rhine district of Neuss.

The Crime Directorate is divided into a command center (based in Neuss) and two criminal investigation departments, each with five criminal investigation departments that focus on different tasks. In addition to the regional police stations for the various municipalities in the district, there are so-called centralized specialist police stations that deal with selected crime areas (e.g. burglary). The Criminal Investigation Department for Prevention and Victim Protection is also part of the Crime Directorate.
